About Us

Welcome to The Quilted Heart, LLC! Our shop has grown out of a vision to help serve area quilters. We are delighted in helping beginner to advanced quilters with their quilting needs. Our shop actually started in the spare room of our house where we opened June 24, 1993. Since we are both public school teachers, our shop hours were limited to after school and Saturdays. We started with patterns, thread, and very little fabric. Can you imagine starting a quilting shop with no fabric? Neither can we, but word-of-mouth worked and we were soon outgrowing the space.

It took us two years to find the perfect commercial site located downtown, Pullman. After 4 years at the house, we opened our downtown shop at 134 N. Grand Avenue. Going from 400 square feet to 3,000 square feet was exhilarating, to say the least! From no fabric to opening downtown with 859 bolts and filled with 2500 five years later, we have come a long way in a short amount of time. We are very thankful for the business we receive from quilters all over the world. We continue to form long time friendships with our WSU football / quilting fans we see 4 to 5 times every fall, our moms who come to visit their kids at WSU for Mom's Weekend and our area quilting buddies, who without their undying support, we wouldn't exist..

We look forward to your visit if you are in the area. You can easily locate our store at the intersection of Davis Way (coming south from Colfax on highway 195) and Grand Avenue. We are located next to the City of Pullman / Washington State University Bronze Cougar mini-park. There is plenty of parking behind the brick wall.

Hobbies: Playing with my grandchildren, quilting, rose gardening, officiating highschool football, playing with my two cats and learning how to bobbin lace.
Favorite Quilting method: Hand applique because it is easy to carry with me, but I like trying anything at least once. Currently I'm working on trying to finish all my projects!!!!!!!!!!!!! You haven't heard that one before, have you?

(I call myself the head mechanic of the Quilted Heart racing team. I get to work on the machines but I don't care to drive them.)

Hobbies: I'm too busy to have hobbies but my wife would say they were sleeping, officiating football, keeping her out of trouble and keeping up with my elementary p.e.students. I'm retiring from teaching after 33 years. My future goal is to try and stay under the radar of Debbie, Melania, and LaDawn.
Favorite Quilting Technique: Taking perfectly good bricks, cutting them up, and putting them back together in a pattern for our patio.

Hobbies: Quilting and Fishing
Favorite Quilting Technique: I really like to machine quilt on Gigi, our long arm quilting machine.
Special Note: LaDawn has been our store manager for many years. We'll miss her very much as she moves on to a job with retirement and benefits. You'll see her on some Saturdays throughout the year as she'll continue to help us out when needed.
